Peace Cranes by Jo Wharton

Jo Wharton says:  "This is the story of my journey with the origami Peace Cranes which are made to honor Sadako Sasaki, the little girl who died from the bomb at Hiroshima. I was fourteen years old when the bomb was dropped and I have never forgotten the horror and shame I felt then. Folding the cranes has changed my life and in the past five years the Peace Cranes have taken us many places and I have given away thousands. They are only a little piece of paper, but they carry the story of a little girl who changed the world by her courage and her message of peace. My heart was deeply touched by the quote from Sadako, the little Japanese girl for whom the cranes are made: 'Paper crane, I'll write peace on your wings and you'll fly all over the world'."   www.cranesflyforpeace.com
